(Redirected from Leia Organa)
Princess Leia (also known as Leia Organa) is the twin sister of Luke Skywalker and is a central character in the Episodes IV, V, VI, VII and VIII. Seperated from Luke at birth following the death of their mother (Padme Amidala) during childbirth, she is adopted to keep her identity as Anakin Skywalker's a secret. Unaware of her true self, she grows up as part of the royal Organa family on Alderaan.
A key member and spearhead of the Rebel Alliance, Leia is feisty, brave and fully capable in combat situations. Upon encountering Han Solo, it is immediately clear that there is an attraction between the two, and their interaction and denial of true feelings plays out as a love story between episodes IV-VI. In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Leia hatches a secret plan to rescue Han Solo from the evil clutches of Jabba The Hutt, but is caught, captured and enslaved. Despite a rescue attempt by Luke Skywalker, Leia remains enslaved until she ironically uses the chains that bind her to murder Jabba The Hutt.
